Allen Douglas Upton, 73, of Taneytown, MD, and formerly of Pasadena, MD, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.  Born March 7, 1943 in Severn, MD, he was the son of the late Melvin and Hilda (Clark) Upton.  He was the devoted husband of Pauline “Cookie” Upton, to whom he was married for 52 years.

Allen worked in the printing division of the National Security Agency for 35 years.  He loved working on and driving his 5 tractors -- 2 Farmalls, 2 Allis Chalmers, and his new Kubota.  He enjoyed drag racing, surf fishing, gardening, and collecting Hess trucks.  Allen also loved his pet cat, Speedy Do.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Christine Calka and husband Lou of Mt. Airy; sister, Muriel Gyory of Annapolis; granddaughters, Amanda and Michelle; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Gertz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Kristin Krantz officiating.  Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
