Brooke Miller

April 23, 1933 ~ June 21, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old


            Brooke Ignatius Miller, 84, of Emmitsburg, MD died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg.  Born April 23, 1933 in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late Irvin and Mary (Hartagan) Miller.  He was the husband of Corinne (Kaas) Miller, to whom he was married for 45 years.  He was predeceased by his first wife, the late Mary Margaret (Wetzel) Miller, in 1969.

            Brooke was a mason and carpenter.  He retired from Mt. St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, where he was a boiler room operator.  He was raised on a farm, and for several years, helped his friends with farming.  He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family, especially at family picnics.  He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Emmitsburg.

            Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife Corinne, are children, Eugene Miller and wife Karen of Fairfield, PA, Joseph Miller of Thurmont, MD, Anthony Miller and wife Donna of Sharpsburg, MD,  Darlene Geiman and husband Timothy of Littlestown, PA, and Kevin Miller and wife Sarah of Lusby, MD; step-children, Debra Cool and husband Allen of Emmitsburg, Kenneth Kreitz and wife Sherry of Dillsburg, PA, and Tina Ridenour and husband Leo of Emmitsburg; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by son, William “Billy” Miller; grandsons, Nick Miller and Jeffrey Kreitz; great-grandchildren, Skylar Stambaugh and Landon Kreitz; 3 brothers; and 6 sisters.  Brooke was the last of his family and lived to be the oldest.     

            A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, MD, 21727 with the Rev. Charles F. Krieg, C.M. as celebrant.  Inurnment will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.

            Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick,. MD, 21702 or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church at the above address.
