Carolyn Ruth Johnson, age 71, of Westminster, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, September 26, 2016 at her home.

          Born February 5, 1945 in Tazewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Hatford and Sally (Sizemore) Powers.  She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert E. Johnson, Sr.

          Carolyn had been employed as a Supervisor and Trainer for Sweetheart Cup Company, medically retiring in 2006. In her early years, she was a nurse at Shepherd Pratt Hospital in Baltimore.  She was a long-time member of Harvest Church of God in Reisterstown.  Carolyn enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music and attended many Bluegrass festivals.  She also enjoyed reading, cooking, camping and studying her Bible—the Word of God. 

          Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Sherrie Stairs and husband Mark of Meyersdale, PA, Robert W. Johnson and wife Robin of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, Melissa “Missy” Boyer and husband Keith of N.C., Rebecca Ann Schmidt and husband Jeff of Westminster, and Robert E. Johnson, Jr. of Preston, MD;  Brothers, Johnny Sizemore of Alabama and Larry H. Powers of Baltimore; Sisters, Dorothy Hugvart of Louisiana, Loretta Powers of Baltimore and Sharon Griest of Westminster; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.    She was predeceased by her daughter, Melody Carol Johnson in April 2016.

          A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 28th from the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, with her pastor, Reverend L. Darrin Pendley, officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.

          The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
