Larry Harry Pavek, 75, resident of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, Maryland.

Born September 25, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Harry T. and Mary E. Pavek.  He was the loving and devoted husband of 52 years to Carol Y. (Carmack) Pavek.

Larry was employed at Fort Detrick for 33 years retiring in 1997.  He was stationed at Fort Detrick while serving in the U.S. Army.  It was during this time that he met and married Carol on September 25, 1965.  Larry enjoyed cooking, reading, doing crossword puzzles and in his earlier days, enjoyed playing the Hammond organ.  Larry and Carol’s favorite place to visit was Colonial Williamsburg, Va.  One of their most memorable visits was in 1980 when they renewed their wedding vows at Bruton Parish Church in the historic area.

Larry was pre-deceased by his sister, Marilyn in 1982.

A heartfelt thanks is extended to Frederick Memorial Hospital’s 3rd and 4th floor staff that took such wonderful care of Larry during his three week stay there and also to the Kline Hospice House staff for their care and comfort during his stay.  A very special thank you to Dr. Haque and his wonderful staff for their care and concern.

Per Larry’s wishes visitation and services will be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg, MD.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Rd., Mt. Airy, MD  21771 or to the charity of your choice.
