Patricia C. (Kucharski) Kureth

          Patricia C. Kucharski Kureth, 67, of Westminster, died on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at her home.

          Born March 13, 1950, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Rita B. (Sokolowski) Kucharski of Westminster and the late Theodore S. Kucharski.  She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Kureth, Jr. for 37 years prior to his death.

          Patricia was very active in Reisterstown Teen Center and received recognition for her untiring and devoted service from 1966 to 1971 as an officer and then as a leader.  In 1967, she became the first Miss Reisterstown Teen Queen and then went on to win the first Miss Baltimore County Teen Queen.  She became involved in the March of Champions Bugle Corp, and was Miss Rebel 1970 and then Miss Yankee 1971.  Getting married in 1972 ended that “single” part of her life.

          Patricia graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory, earned a BA in math education from Towson University and earned her MED + from McDaniel College.  She enjoyed teenagers and mathematics.  After teaching for 14 months at the Muncie School in Sykesville, Patricia then taught mathematics in Carroll County public schools.  She taught for 39 years prior to retiring.

          Surviving in addition to her mother, are sons and spouses, Joseph E. III (Karrie), Michael R., and Theodore R. (Jessica) and daughter Patricia M. Stewart and husband, Jason; and eight grandchildren.  Also surviving is her only sister, Rita A. Peterson and husband, Carl.

          A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with Father Mark Bialek as celebrant.  Private inurnment will follow in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.  There will be no public visitation.

          Memorial donations may be made to St. John Catholic Church, P.O. Box 546, Westminster, MD  21157.

          Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster.
