Anthony “Tony” Richard Weddle, 53, resident of Thurmont, Maryland, died following a lengthy illness on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD.

          Born on April 18, 1963 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of Charolette (Billie) Lewis Weddle (Bill) of Thurmont and James Richard Weddle (Pat) of Woodsboro.  He is also survived by a former spouse, Aretta Weddle of Waynesboro, PA.

          Tony worked as a driving instructor for Greg’s driving school.  A life-long volunteer fireman, he was a life-member of Graceham Volunteer Fire Company, and began volunteering at the Lewistown Volunteer Fire Department.  He also served as a former police officer for the town of Thurmont.  He was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

          Surviving are son, Jamie Weddle (Liz) of Thurmont; daughters, Amber Weddle (Ryan), Brandi Weddle (Jake), and Sarah Weddle (Dylan) all of Thurmont; grandchildren, Braden and Lily Weddle of West Virginia; brother, Bradley Weddle (Stacy) and sister, Beth Wachter (Skeeter) both of Thurmont; numerous nieces and nephews; and special aunt Libby Bond (Larry).  He was predeceased by a son, Donnie Weddle in 2014.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg.  Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.  A fellowship reception will follow the graveside service at Guardian Hose Co. activities building in Thurmont.
