JoAnn Cecilia Allen, 70, of Taneytown, MD went home to the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA. 

Born on May 7, 1947 at home in Howard County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Marjorie (Parrott) Kelly.  She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Paul J. Allen.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown and also attended Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmitsburg.  She sang in various choral groups at church for over 36 years, and was deeply devoted to her faith and church.  She volunteered for 11 years at the Taneytown Senior Center.  She enjoyed crafts of all kinds including, crocheting, knitting, quilting, and stamping.  She also enjoyed flower gardening.

Surviving in addition to her husband are sons, Joseph B. Allen of Martinsburg, W.Va., Melvin D. Allen and wife Jean of Gettysburg, PA; daughter, Cecilia A. Harlfinger and husband Richard, III of Carlisle, PA; grandchildren, Christopher Tausen, Richard Harlfinger, IV, Alicha Choffel, David, Denstiny, Luke, and James Allen; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Landon Tausen, Wesley Choffel, Quinn Tracey, and Liam Thompson; siblings, Bob, Helen, Grant, Mark, John, Marjorie, and Mary; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings, Walter, Richard, and Jean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Taneytown with Father John F. Lesnick as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Taneytown.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.  Rosary prayers will follow at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.  Please remember JoAnn in prayer.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD  21787.
