Joan Ann (Carrigo) Sluss

Joan Ann Sluss, 81, of Westminster, MD died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at her home.  Born September 12, 1936 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Erma (Cornell) Carrigo.  She was the wife of the late David Sluss.

Joan was a clerk at the Maryland Cup Company in Owings Mills for many years and then worked as a stock clerk at the Target store in Westminster.  She was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Westminster.  She enjoyed crocheting, collecting pig figurines, playing games on her iPad and spending time with family and friends.  While living in Florida, Joan was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Surviving are her son, Ronald Carrigo and wife Cheri of Taneytown; brother, Francis Carrigo and wife Joan of Westminster; grandson, Michael Carrigo and fiancée Jessica Hopson of Taneytown; granddaughter, Stephanie Carrigo and fiancé Daniel Llanes of White Marsh; great-grandchildren, Marissa, Zoey, Isabella, Casey and Stephen; nieces, Cindy Weise and husband Walter of Westminster, Susan Sluss of Westminster and Brittany Weise and boyfriend Steven Barnett of Westminster; nephews, Walter Weise and wife Tara of Westminster and David Weise and wife Crystal of Manchester. She was predeceased by brothers, Richard Carrigo and Jesse Carrigo, Jr.; and sisters, Lois Ramsburg, Barbara Showacre and Sandra Sluss.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Dr. John A. Campbell officiating.  Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.  The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20 at the funeral home.
