John Gregory Hogarty, 61, of Westminster, died early Friday morning, September 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Born February 1, 1956 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John S. and Lois A. Bridgeman Hogarty.  He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debra D. Woodward Hogarty.  

John was employed as a Facilities Manager for Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville, retiring in 2009.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, playing his guitar, having a good time with family and friends and watching sports, especially ice hockey.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Jennifer Martin and husband Dan of Westminster, and Allison Thomas and husband Joshua of Taneytown; siblings, Jeff Hogarty and wife Darlene of Glen Burnie, Kaye Hancock and husband George of Hampstead, and Lynne Fuller and husband Bobby of Westminster; in-laws, Robert and Elaine Woodward of DE, and Trish and Art Schuler of Salisbury; sisters-in-law, Tammy Woodward of Baltimore, and Diane O’Brien and husband Keven of PA; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Woodward and wife Denita of NJ, and Sean Cummins and wife Darci of DE; grandchildren, Melanie, Adrienne and Lochlen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his infant sister, Bonnie Hogarty.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at American Legion Post 31, 2 Sycamore St, Westminster, with the Reverend Bill Thomas officiating.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD  21157.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster.
