Paul Thomas Scheurich, OCDS

Paul Thomas Scheurich, OCDS, 83, of Fairfield, PA, died peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg, MD.

Born on September 3, 1934 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Paul V. and Agnes E. (Devereaux) Scheurich.

Paul was a graduate of Calvert Hall High School/College in Baltimore and worked as a supervisor of personnel with the U.S. Postal Service in Baltimore.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1957-59.  Paul was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Emmitsburg and attended Mass regularly at St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church in Blue Ridge Summit, PA.  He was a member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites.

Surviving him are his prayer brother and housemate, Thomas D. Miller of Fairfield, PA; prayer brother and caregiver, Michael Bunch of Fairfield, PA; brother, Thomas D. Scheurich and wife Marie of Timonium, MD; step-nephew, Christopher Parsley of GA. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 13219 Monterey Lane, Blue Ridge Summit, PA with the Rev. Christopher Onyeneke, MSSCC as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the New St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg, MD.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seton Center, Inc., 16840 South Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, MD  21727.
