Raymond Cone Obituary

Raymond William Cone, 57, of Finksburg, MD, died peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster following a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.  Born May 6, 1960 in New York state, he was the son of Martin Cone of Orlando, FL and the late Margaret (Kyer) Cone.  He was the devoted husband of Joyce (Holmes) Cone, to whom he was married for almost 30 years, and the loving father of Ian Reilley Cone.

Ray was a graduate of Coatsville High School in Coatsville, PA.  He earned an Associates Degree in Journalism from Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA.  He was employed as a Prepress Technician and Manager for the Carroll County Times for 20 years.  He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster.  Ray enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife Joyce, and son, Ian Reilley, are siblings, James and Kathleen Cone of Orlando, FL; sisters-in-law, Sharon Jahn and husband Bill of Bowie, MD, and Marilyn Holmes-Reilley of Moundsville, WV; and niece, Amy Wert and husband Eric of Towson, MD.  He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Randy Reilley.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD with the Rev. Mark S. Bialek as celebrant.  There will be no inurnment.  The family will receive friends from 11am until 12:30 pm on Saturday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ray’s name may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157, or to The American Cancer Society, Tribute Giving, 8400 Silver Crossing, Oklahoma City, OK  73132.
