Arlene Virginia Stambaugh, 90, of Taneytown, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Brinton Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center in Winfield, MD. Born on February 20, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lawrence and Clara Lawrence, nee Koontz. She was the loving wife to John Robert Stambaugh, Sr., who passed in 2007.
Arlene was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed going to auctions and collecting glassware and Hess trucks. She also spent Sundays at McDonalds talking with her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.
Surviving her are children, Roy Stambaugh of Thurmont, Linda Sell of Taneytown, and John Stambaugh, Jr. and his wife, Lesa of Taneytown, and Barbara Patrick of Woodbine; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Rodkey.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Kelly Crenshaw officiating. The funeral service will be live-streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page at the time of service at www.facebook.com/MDFHWestminster. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1380 Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Under the current COVID conditions, the family requests that all attending to please wear masks and social distance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made in Arlene’s name to ALSAC/St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
