Arthur Wilson

Arthur “Art” Thomas Wilson, Sr., aged 72 of Taneytown, Maryland, passed on Tuesday June 16, 2026, at Gettysburg General Hospital. Born February 11, 1954, in Keymar, Maryland, he was the son of the late Edgar and Doris Pearl née Pittinger Wilson. Arthur was the devoted husband to Louann Wilson, née Stitely.

Art worked hard in his career as a warehouse worker, retiring from Westminster Urethane then worked at the Liquor barn for almost 20 years. But always made time for the things he loved. Art loved to play bingo and play the lottery, namely scratchoffs, but he also loved Pick 3 and had a knack for choosing the right numbers to play. Art enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching westerns, and cheering on the Cowboys and Orioles. He also bowled for over 30 years.

Art leaves behind his children Cheryl Wilson of Taneytown, Tina Petry of Taneytown, Theresa Brown and her husband William Sr. of Union Bridge, and Arthur Thomas Jr. of Taneytown; his grandchildren Kiser Leister and wife Stephanie, Victor Brown, Maurisa Brown, Kara Wilson, Arthur Thomas III, Jayden Wilson, Dominic Brown, Amber Brown, William Brown Jr., Nicholas Horowitz and Anthony Petry; and great-grandchildren Dawson and Dekoda Leister. Arthur is also survived by his siblings Rocky Wilson, Annie Stitely, Richard Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Connie Wilson, Beatrice Redding, George Wilson, and Samuel Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Art is predeceased by his sisters; Deloris Wilson, Constance Hanky, brothers; Francis Wilson, infant siblings; Charles, Henry and Glenna.

The family will receive friends on Thursday June 25th from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E Baltimore Street, Taneytown, Maryland 21787, with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Keysville Union Cemetery, Keysville MD.
