Austin R. Maxson, 78, of Taneytown, MD, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, June 11, 2022, surrounded by his family and special furry pal, Champ. Born on November 18, 1943 in Cortland, N.Y., he was son of the late Stanley A. Maxson Sr. and Frances (Reynolds) Maxson. Austin leaves behind Eunice, his wife of 40 years.
Austin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965. Following his time proudly serving his country, he became a sales representative for a chemical manufacturing company. He loved to play golf and go hunting. He was an avid fan of Washington, D.C. sports team. Waking at 5a.m., Austin found enjoyment taking his pal, Champ for a morning walk. Austin was a long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a dedicated sponsor to many over the years, making alternate arrangements for meetings when the pandemic set in.
In addition to his beloved wife Eunice, Austin is survived by a daughter, Virginia Kim Maxson and a son, Bob Maxson; grandchildren, Justin Maxson, Danielle Wilson, John and Jessie Linton and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Eunice’s children, Clifford and Deborah Vazquez; grandchildren, Christopher and Samantha Vazquez.
