Barbara Ann Bowman, 82, of Fairfield, PA, formerly of Rockville, MD, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at her home. Born March 26, 1937 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Vivian (McQuigan) Bryan. She was the wife of the late Richard Bowman, to whom she was married for 42 years. He died in 2000.
Barbara was a Word Processing Supervisor with United States Pharmacopeia in Rockville, MD, where she was employed for 46 years. She formerly worked as a secretary for the United States Department of Justice for 11 years. She enjoyed working, boating, watching old movies, playing piano and listening to music. She was an avid fan of the Washington Nationals and the Washington Redskins.
Surviving are son, Edward Bowman and wife Donna of Fairfield, PA; daughter, Lisa Milbach of Indian Trail, NC; sister, Vivian Nauser and husband Donald of Huntingtown, MD; grandchildren, Jennifer Gato, Kathleen Harbaugh, and Seth and Alissa Milbach; and great-granddaughter, Luna Gato. She also leaves behind her beloved Boston terrier, Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. Martin McGeough, C.M. as celebrant. Burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland will be private. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 1st at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara’s name may be made to Daughters of Charity, 331 S. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
