Barbara Ann (Bandorick) Dyson passed on Friday, October 20, 2023. She was the cherished daughter of the late MSGT (Ret) Wm. Bandorick and Barbara Howes Bandorick. Born, November 07, 1942 in Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Barbara was devoted to volunteer work with St. Joseph Catholic Community for 47 years and St. John Catholic Church SVDP and RCIS for 11 years. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Eldersburg for 48 years and St. John Catholic Church in Westminster for 11 years. Barbara was employee of the year in 1990 while working for Western Auto, St. MD Governments Certificate of Merit in 1993, Women Helping Women Soroptimist International of Westminster 1996, MD Most Beautiful People Award in 1999.
She enjoyed the family Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She cooked until ill health, then her son David and wife Karen took over. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother, St. Jude, St. Anthony and Scared Heart, The Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 224 where she served as past historian and VFW Auxiliary 467. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and helping others.
She is survived by her son, David Dyson II and wife Karen; granddaughters, Jennifer Barlow and husband Bill, Amy Johnson and husband Neal, Athena Hardester and Amanda Jean Dyson; 4 great-grandsons, Aidan, Lucas, Easton and Clayton; 3 great-granddaughters, Alexis, Madalyn, Annabella; and 2 great-great-grandsons Angelo and Alonzo; dearest nieces Katie and Joan Sears; dearest neighbors Tom and Laura Beach. She was predeceased by her cherished husband David Dyson; beloved daughter, Barbara Francis Shifflett in 2010 and beloved son Thomas Shifflett in 2020; her parents and cherished brother, William Bandorick.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 1-3 and 5-7 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157. A mass of Christina Burial will be held at 11am on Tuesday October 31, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, MD 21157. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SVDP of St. Johns, Wounded Warriors, Smile Train or Carroll County Humane Society.
