Barbara Kay Tackett

Barbara Kay Tackett, age 80 of Taneytown, MD died at her home with her daughter by her side on Monday, March 23, 2026. Born June 30, 1945, in Ironton Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Richard O. and Kathryn (Smith) Tackett.

Barb graduated in 1964 from Gettysburg High School. She was a hard and dedicated worker for 54 years in manufacturing at Bornstein Sewing Factory, Kessler and Bedford Shoe factory and later retiring from Random house. She adored going to see Dean Crawford and his band with her best friend Eula Baker. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with her daughter, traveling and shopping with friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Baker of Taneytown, MD, grandsons, Dylan and Dalton Baker also of Taneytown and cousin, Pam Kistler of Anthem AZ.

She was predeceased by her son Todd Edward Baker in August 2021and by her loving companion of 42 years, James Crumbacker in September 2025.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 136 E. Baltimore Street Taneytown (21787). Funeral service will begin promptly after at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Interment will follow the funeral service at Grace U.C.C. Cemetery, 47 W. Baltimore Street, Taneytown (21787).
