On Saturday March 16, 2024, Benjamin Franklin Rock, Jr. passed away at his home in Taneytown, MD. He was the loving husband of Gladys Helen Rock, nee Lawver for 68 years.
Benjamin was a farmer his whole life, loved to hunt, refurbish tractors, and go out boating. He was active in the American Legion 120 in Taneytown, was a member years ago of Harney Volunteer Fire Department, Messiah United Methodist Church, and was a board member of Southern States for many years. He also worked for Black and Decker as well as Cambridge Rubber.
Benjamin is survived by his 8 children, Donald Lee Rock (Peggy Marie), Carol Louise Kreit, Barbara Marie Sanders (Rodney), Eugene Wayne Rock (companion Beverly Stanley), Margaret Ann Keister, Edward Stuart Rock (companion Erin Dawson), Timothy Paul Rock (companion Jenn Baker), and Steven Joseph Rock (Kim); his 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; brother, Lee Rock (Diane). He is predeceased by his son, John William Rock, Sr.; his grandson, Jason Dwayne Kreit; siblings, Robert Rock, and Isabelle Rentsel; and his cat, Frank.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday March 20th at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Thursday March 21st, with Reverend Douglas Mummert officiating. Interment to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown, MD.
