On October 8th, 2025 Brenda Kay Maddox, passed away in Gettysburg, PA. Born at home on August 27th, 1948 in Thurmont, MD she was the daughter of the late Charles Frederick and Julia Cliffadean Forrest nee Miller. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Douglas Maddox.
Brenda graduated from Frederick High School in 1966. After graduation, she worked at Ben’s Esso and was a house cleaner for the Motel in Thurmont, MD. She also worked at Snow White Grill in Frederick, MD before going to Moore’s Business Forms where she retired to become a caregiver for her husband. Brenda lived in her home in PA up until the time of her passing and was a landlord to 5 properties near her home. When she was at home, she loved to make beautiful crafts for her family and friends. One of her favorite things to do was to go to her cabin in Potter County, PA. She loved to take her family up there to see the bears, deer, go hunting, and go swimming in the creek. Her love of animals was unbelievable. Her dogs were her children and she loved all 8 of them very much. Everyone said she had the gift of being able to talk to God.
Brenda is survived by her siblings Louann Toms and husband Charles, Charlene Forrest, Trudy Green and her partner Kevin Rice, Laura Williams and husband Jay Williams, Wanda Abe and husband Brian Abe, Denise LeMaster and husband Ronnie, and Donnie Hubble. She is predeceased by her sisters Kathy Forrest, Joyce Buhrman and Debra Jean Forrest, her brother Charles Forrest Jr. and her nephew Jason Maddox.
A very special “thank you” to her companion caregivers Barbara May and Laura whose constant friendship meant the world to Brenda.
Family will receive friends for visitation on Friday October 17th, 2025 from 10am-1pm at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A. (21727). A funeral service will begin at 1pm and will be officiated by Pastor Andrew Brown. Interment will be at Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.
