Carol Taylor Mello passed away on March 25, 2026, in home hospice care at the age of 75.

Born on February 20, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, Carol spent much of her life in the Baltimore area, with periods of her childhood in Virginia and Florida. She attended Sparrows Point Elementary School, Titusville Elementary School, Mims Elementary School, Buckton Elementary School, Robert Poole Elementary School, Battle Grove Elementary School, and Sparrows Point Annex, and later graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1969.

Carol dedicated 52 years of service as a Case Reviewer for the federal government and its contractors. Throughout her long career, she received multiple awards recognizing her outstanding service and performance.

She was a talented seamstress and an excellent cook, and she found joy in gardening and spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. Carol was a longtime resident of North Point Village and was deeply loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Emily Taylor Mello; her siblings, Angela Leitzer (Winfield), Kenneth Taylor (Rosemary), David Taylor (Karen), and Phil Taylor; her nieces, Serafina DeVita (Evan), Lauren Farrish (Ryan), Dr. Hannah Hoge (Patrick), Esther Jenkins (Dennis), and Ruth Taylor; her nephew, Jarrod Taylor (Julie); her great-nieces, Luciana and Nina DeVita, and Brooke, Paige, Kelsey, and Reese Taylor; and her great-nephews, O’Reily Farrish, Grant Taylor, and Luke Taylor.

A private memorial service for immediate family will be held on May 3, 2026. If you wish to send flowers to the service, please contact the Funeral Home directly.
