Charles Elmer “Mack” McKinney, 93, of Sykesville, MD, died November 3, 2025 at Northwest Hospital BridgingLife Hospice in Randallstown. Born June 23, 1932, in Glade Springs, VA, raised in Bakersville, NC, he was the son of the late Frank Parson and Margaret (Eda) McKinney. Charles was the devoted husband of the late Olive L. McKinney, nee Snyder for 50 years.
Charles worked for Asplundh Tree Expert Company for 38 years and retired in 1987. He was an avid football fan, his favorite NFL team was the New York Giants. He enjoyed hunting, and taking meticulous care of his vegetable garden. A gifted musician, he played mandolin, enjoyed gospel music, and was an active member of his church’s band.
Surviving are daughter, Donna Shorb; son, Charles H. McKinney; sister-in-law, Frances Cooper; niece, Brenda Haschert; and siblings, Tillie McKinney, and Weis McKinney. He had a very special nephew Rich McKinney, granddaughters Amanda McKinney, Katelyn Shorb and her fiancé Zach Huesman, and grandson Kory Shorb and his wife Jessica. His sister in law Frances McKinney Cooper was his caregiver for many years. He is predeceased by his brothers Jay, Bob, Doug, John and Burk; and his grandson Eric McKinney.
Family will receive friends from 11am-12pm for a time of visitation on Wednesday November 12, 2025 and a funeral service in honor of Charles will begin at 12pm on Wednesday November 12, 2025, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD 21157, with Reverend David L. Meador officiating. Burial will be private.
