Curtis B. Porter

Apr 24, 1956 — Sep 1, 2026

Taneytown, MD

On September 1, 2026, Curtis B. Porter, RN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

Curtis was born on April 24, 1956, in Buffalo, New York, to Wylie and Flora Porter. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, beginning his career as a gunner on a KC-135 and later transitioning his talents to become a medical technician. He retired with honor at the rank of Technical Sergeant. Curtis was deeply proud to have his son-in-law, Dale, and his grandson, Curtis, follow in his footsteps by serving their country.

Following his distinguished military career, Curtis chose to continue helping others by attending college to become a Registered Nurse. For the next 20 years, he faithfully served his community and gladly dedicated his time to training and mentoring many new nurses.

Curtis was a proud father and a doting "Pop Pop." His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren: Kim Cook and her husband Dale, and their children Savannah, Curtis, and Katie (Vince); Crystalline McCormick, her children Brianna (Shawn), Austin, and Brandon; Rebecca Porter; Sara Hay, and her husband Davis, and their children Bailey and Brooks. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Hugh (Ann), and his sister, Kathleen (David), along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

His passing has left a profound stillness in our home and an emptiness in our hearts.

Dad/Pop Pop, you are forever in our hearts.

Rest peacefully, Pop Pop.

You were loved. You were never alone. Your lessons, your stories, and your love will remain with us always.
