Daniel A. Wilhide

Daniel A. Wilhide, age 93 of Thurmont MD, died at his home on January 23, 2026. Born July 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Donald and Eleanore (Schut) Wilhide. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Bowers) Wilhide.

Daniel joined the US Army in 1949 and served for 2 years in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952. After his service in the military he met and married Nacy, they eloped together in 1957. He spent 32 years as technical illustrator for Martin Marietta, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf, going to lunch, seeing movies or just hanging out.

Besides his wife, Nancy of 68 years he is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Knill and husband Christopher and Sharon Bittner and husband Bill; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way and special friend Eric Mears.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Elaine Skidmore in 2010, he is also predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery, 121 N. Altamont Ave. Thurmont, MD.
