Donald Wayne Bixler passed away on 2/25/2026, at home with his wife. He was 85 years old. Son of Harry Edward Bixler and Dorothy McNeave Bixler. He was predeceased in death by bother William Bixler and grandson “BB” Brian Wayne. Father of Tracy and Brian. Grandfather to Hannah, Kendall and Tommy. Great Grandfather to five.
He graduated from Westminster High School in 1958, where he played football and baseball. He was a licensed stockbroker.
Don encountered Jesus and received salvation at a low point in his life. In 1978 he met and married a former high school classmate, Judy Lee (deceased in 2012), a devoted Christian. Together they became involved with Christian Marriage Encounter and Exchanged Life Ministry in Dallas TX, Concerned Women of America, Alpha Pregnancy Center and Hampstead Youth for Christ in Maryland.
They cofounded Sakhisizwe Christian Ministries of South Africa. In 1991 they went on a one-year mission trip to South Africa with Youth for Christ USA. In 1995 they were called to South Africa to start a ministry called Combined Christian Ministries to the Poor, CCMP. And in 1999 they opened the Ubomi Obutsha (New Life) Ministry Center in Kwazakhele Township, Port Elizabeth South Africa. Together they served twelve years in South Africa as missionaries. Serving the poverty-stricken people and demonstrating the love of Christ thru word, action and deed.
Don married Jeanne in 2018, another Westminster High classmate.
He was a member of Meadow Branch Church of the Brethen and chaired the leadership team, was a deacon and started a men’s bible study. Don helped initiate the current Helping Hands food pantry at the church.
Don’s life demonstrated his love for his Savior and his Lord.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11AM, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD 21157. A funeral service will begin at 12pm with Amy Bell and Gary Grecco officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.
