Doris Jean Collins-Turk, 89, of Taneytown, MD, died January 23, 2026, at Sweetbriar Hills Home, in Silver Spring, Md. Born April 16, 1936, in Confluence, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Marshall and Juanita (Colebank) Collins. Doris was the devoted wife of the late Leonard Turk. She is survived by her only daughter, Leslie F. Brown, (husband Mark Brown), grandsons Eric Wilder (wife Lauren), Douglas Wilder (wife Maggie) and granddaughter, Lauren Wilder-Schaeffer (husband William). She had 6 great-grandchildren of whom she adored, Emma, Paxton, Nicholas, Noah, Aline and June. She is also survived by a brother, Jon Collins and several Nephews and a Niece. She was pre-deceased by a grandson Nicholas and Niece Lori Ann. 

Doris came to Baltimore in the 1950’s and went to school receiving a certification in typing and short hand where she worked as executive secretary at Hoschild Kohn’s and then Hutzlers department stores. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing and retired from the State of Md where she worked as a Psychiatric Nurse at Spring Grove and Crownsville Psychiatric Hospital. She was extremely devoted to her family, loved hobbies in arts and crafts where she had a talent for making beautiful wreaths and creating stained glass ornaments. We will miss her very much! In accordance with Doris’ wishes, services will be private with a celebration of her life.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doris’ name to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
