Dorothy Regina (Brown) Gassman, age 78, of Westminster, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Carroll Lutheran Village. Born April 24, 1945, she was the daughter of the late William Ezra and Ehtel Marguerit (Bankard) Brown. She was the wife of the late Henry Russell Gassman, who died in 2014.
Dorothy was the organist and pianist at Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren for 45 years, and was active in the Women’s Fellowship. More recently she was the Director of the CLV Singers. Dorothy loved games and cards. Baking was a passion and she could be found at the Farmers Market at the Ag Center or delivering meals to those who were sick or in need of a meal, often times doing so anonymously.
Surviving are nieces, Donna Rucker and Kathi Brown; nephew, Thomas Sasaki; niece-in-laws, Erma Brown and LaRue Lennon; and God-daughter Jenny Hobbs. Dorothy was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters; she was the last of her generation.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 11am at Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 818 Old Taneytown Rd, Westminster, MD 21158. A time of memorial gathering will begin at 10am at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
