Edward Lee Coffey, age 84, formerly of Westminster, MD, passed away peacefully Wednesday June 21, 2023, at his Murrells Inlet, SC home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Waynesboro, VA, Mr. Coffey was the son of the late Lewis Lee Coffey and Myra Nuckols Coffey. A proud United States Navy Veteran, he worked for the Department of Defense NSA for 34 years. An avid Baltimore Ravens fan, Mr. Coffey enjoyed watching football and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Mr. Coffey is preceded in death by his wife, Shelda Elaine “Mammy” Coffey, brother, Hayward Coffey, sister, Phyllis Kimberling and son in law, Brian Spencer.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Spencer and her spouse Curt Sell, Murrells Inlet, SC; stepchildren, Kara Nicole Price, and Zachary Price (Michelle) both of Westminster, MD; grandchildren, Emily Spencer, Heidi Spencer, Jordan Sell, Brandon Sell, Ryan Sell, Logan Sell, Marin Taylor, Kylin Taylor; Traiben Price and Arlin B. Price; great granddaughters, Scarlotte Sell and Claire Sell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, 11 a.m. at Sandymount United Methodist Church. 2101 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, MD 21048 with the Reverend Dr. Robert E. Walker, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Sandymount United Methodist Church Cemetery.
