George Manuel Geralis, 99, of Fairfield, PA passed away on November 12, 2023. He was born on September 3, 1924 in New York, NY. George was a man of great curiosity, always learning new things. He was passionate about the culinary arts, master gardening, photography and history.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Jacqueline Geralis, and his children: George M. Geralis, Jr. (Marsha) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Elaine Speiser (Matt) of Bethesda, MD, and John Z. Geralis (Vanessa) of Villanova, PA. He also leaves six cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel G. Geralis and Katherine Cois Geralis, as well as his brothers, Constantine Geralis and James Geralis.
After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC, George attended the University of Maryland. George proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II from 1943-1946 as a topographic draftsman.
George owned and operated Geralis Florist in Washington, DC for 25 years providing commissioned artistic services to the White House, Capitol Hill and other government agencies for three Administrations. He also served as Chairman of Marketing of Florists’ Transworld Delivery Association (FTD). Following his interest in photography, George later became a photojournalist for the District of Columbia Department of Recreation and the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.
