George "Sam" K. Warner, Jr.

   George "Sam" Kenneth Warner, Jr., age 78, of Taneytown MD, passed away on Sunday, August 16th, 2026 at his home. Born July 20th, 1948 in Gettysburg, PA. He was the son of the late George K. Warner, Sr. and Madeline (Fogle) Warner. Sam is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy J. (Rodkey) Warner; daughter, Tinia Brauning and son, Maurice "Spud" Warner and his wife Tiffany; grandchildren, Abigail Brauning, Ashton Crouse, and Lydia Warner; sister, Joan Rodkey, all of Taneytown; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Eric Brauning and brother-in-law, Ronald Rodkey. 

   Sam was a 1966 graduate of Taneytown High School. He served in the Army from 1969 to 1971. He worked for Greene's construction and then 35 years at Random House, Westminster. He coached boys baseball with Dave Feeser for 17 years, and was an umpire for Little League for 30 years. Sam was a member of Taneytown American Legion Post 120, and a life member of Grace United Church of Christ, Taneytown. He loved the history of Gettysburg, was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing with his friends. He had a green thumb and enjoyed growing flowers, especially violets. Sam loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by them.

   The family will receive friends at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown on Monday, August 24th from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 6PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 25th at 11 AM, with interment immediately following at Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery.
