Helen Martin

May 19, 1949 — September 24, 2025

Helen “Joanne” Martin, 76, of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Born May 19, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland, Joanne was the daughter of the late John Albert Moreland and Helen Ann (Jefferson) Moreland.

At just 19 years old, Joanne married the love of her life, the late Ronald Jay Martin. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and adventure. Joanne and Ron had a true passion for traveling—whether it was spontaneous road trips across the country, visits to the Great Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg, or unforgettable family vacations to Disney World. Their greatest joy was creating memories with their beloved grandchildren.

Joanne’s life was guided by her steadfast Christian faith. She was a long-time member of Bethel Assembly of God, where she faithfully attended services, taught Bible study, and volunteered her time to pray with those in need at local hospitals. She also extended her compassion globally by sponsoring a child in Africa, a reflection of her giving spirit.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Joanne cherished her family above all else. She was affectionately known as “Meme” and filled her home with warmth, music, and laughter. She found joy in playing the piano, searching for hummingbirds, and gathering loved ones for Scrabble, card games, and board games. Her love of music and her gentle presence left lasting impressions on everyone who knew her.

Joanne is survived by her daughters, Lisa Anne Martin and her wife, Louise Coakley, and Amie Martin; as well as her grandchildren, Maggie Gee, Darius Trice, and Aurora Myers. She will be remembered as a woman of faith, kindness, and unconditional love whose legacy lives on in her family and in all those whose lives she touched.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
