Henry (Hank) Herman Housman IV, age 81, of Taneytown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Born February 9, 1943 in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late Henry Housman III, Alice Adler and Stepmom Angela Housman. He was the cherished husband to Janet lee (Hammond) Housman of 61 years.
Hank went to Catonsville High School and then joined the Air National Guard. He was a retired freight driver with local union Teamster No. 557 and No.639. He retired from Giant foods in 2003. Hank had many hobbies over the years including model trains, antiquing, collecting oyster cans and McCormick tea pots. He also enjoyed his summers and retirement in Ocean City and he loved being on the water. Hank enjoyed his jet ski and boat with family either fishing or just joy riding. You could always find him wearing his Natty Boh shirts. After Ocean City they moved to Carroll Vista in Taneytown to be closer to family.
Besides his wife, Hank is survived by his 3 sons: Henry (Hank) Housman V, John Housman and wife Heidi, Jan Housman and wife Kim; sisters Anita Talbott and Alice Oliphant; grandchildren Sheena Housman and husband Christopher Gick, Sierra Holland and husband Shawn, Hunter Housman, Edokiya Swanson and husband Seth, Tirzah Kohler and husband Jordan, Joshua Housman, Jacob Housman and Fiancé Honor Linger, Taylor Lemerise, Amanda Sandler and husband Heston and Jessica Dulik, great-grandchildren Theodora Holland, Wilder Holland, Flynn Gick, Duncan Gick, Ari Sandler and Dylan Sandler.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 2-3pm for visitation at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787 where a Funeral Service will begin at 3 pm. Interment is private. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday May 11th, 2024 from 3pm-5pm at Carroll Vista Clubhouse, 1 Clubside Dr, Taneytown, MD 21787. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Carroll County https://hscarroll.org/donate/ , Pink Dog Rescue: https://pinkdogrescue.org/donations/ or the Alzheimer’s Association.
