James "Jim" Lloyd Umbel

James “Jim” Lloyd Umbel, age 85, died at home one August 3, 2026. Born April 26, 1941, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Helen (Eyler) Umbel. He was the loving husband of Jean Louise Umbel for 62 years.

Jim worked as a mechanic’s assistant at B & D Truck Hoist, Inc., Westminster, MD for over 30 years. He was a man of few words with a big heart. He was willing to help anyone. He enjoyed tinkering and woodworking in his shed while listening to music. He also enjoyed detailing cars, his own and others.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Wheeler of East Berlin, PA; grandchildren, Zachary Wheeler and wife Heather of Hanover, Joshua Wheeler and wife Chelsea of York and Ashlyn Staub and husband DJ of East Berlin; great-grandchildren, Opal Knox, Elsie Staub,Colton and Lili Wheeler; siblings, Ruth Clark, Anne Benjamin, Clarence, Austin, David, and Bill Umbel.

He was predeceased by daughter, Jamie Umbel; sister, Caraolyn Clark, Beatrice Umbel and brother, Jack Umbel.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
