James Workman “Jimmy” Beacham, 88, of Westminster and Monrovia, MD died Saturday January 22, 2022 at his companion’s home in Monrovia. Born May 19, 1933 in Avondale, he was the son of the late Phillip Slingluf Beacham, Sr. and Ora Turffle Beacham.
At age 15, Jimmy started dairy farming. He was an amazing herdsman, winning awards for Young Farmer of the Year, and Top Milk Producers. He had cows that produced 100 lbs. of milk a day, every day. He farmed for 25 years, then worked in the Maintenance Department of Congoleum in Finksburg for 23 years before retiring. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church in Monrovia and the Westminster Moose Lodge. Jimmy loved hunting, and hunted every year in Maryland, Virginia, Maine, and out West. He also loved crabbing, fishing, watching football, baseball and NASCAR races, and working in his vegetable garden, which was immaculate, giving most of it away to neighbors and friends.
Surviving are his son, James “Gus” Beacham and wife Rose; his daughter, Darlene Beacham; 4 grandchildren; 12 great-children; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nellie Roche of California and Libby Brauning of Finksburg; and many brothers-and-sisters-in law, nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by his devoted and beloved companion of 12 years, Helen Liller of Monrovia. In addition to his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary May Beachum, Jimmy was predeceased by brother, Philip S. Beacham, Jr., and sisters, Jean Royer and Ann Caulford.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD with Pastor Mike Yoho officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 27th.
