Jerry Ray McDonald, age 72 of Westminster passed away peacefully at BridgingLife in Westminster on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Born December 29, 1953, he was the son of the late Junior Dale and Dorothy Faye McDonald. Jerry was a beloved husband to his wife Barbara Ann McDonald whom he married on November 10, 1974.
Jerry joined the United States Marine Corps in 1974 and actively served until 1978. He was honorably discharged in 1980. He requested and was granted a transfer to the Air National Guard and served until 1982 in which he was honorably discharged. He went on to become a CAT Scan technologist working at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Later going to work for Carroll Hospital Center until his retirement in 2015. Jerry was a man who enjoyed family vacations, hunting and spending time outdoors.
Besides his wife Barbara, he is survived by his twin sons, Shawn McDonald and wife Melanie of Hampstead, MD and Ryan McDonald and wife Ashley of Westminster, MD; sister, Sandra Durst of Conowingo and brother, Timothy McDonald and wife Sharon of Reading, PA.
He was predeceased by brothers Roger and Gary McDonald.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry’s name to BridgingLife, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or the Maryland Food Bank, 2200 Halethorpe Farms Rd., Baltimore, MD 21227.
A memorial service will take place in the chapel at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Rd, Owings Mills, MD 21117, May 28, 2026 promptly at 11:30 a.m., followed by Interment of the Urn.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry’s life and share stories at The Wakefield Valley Park Event Center, 1000 Fendy Farm Road, Westminster, 21158, at 1:00 p.m. following the memorial service at Garrison Forest Veteran Cemetery.
