Joan Athena Jasman, 80, passed away on September 9, 2023, at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 30, 1942, Joan was the daughter of Nagie and Loretta Jasman (Ellien). Joan graduated from Eastern High School in 1960, and in her career, she worked for Sun Life Insurance Company, served others for many years through the National Kidney Foundation, and helped at Seven Oaks Senior Center.
Joan was a devoted sister and Aunt to her nieces and grandnieces and grandnephew. She had a strong faith and commitment to St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church in Hunt Valley, MD, which her family helped to establish. Joan loved spending time with family and line dancing with her friends. She was known for her contagious smile and laugh, telling stories and memories, having adventures with her friends, travelling, and enjoying steamed crabs and Baltimore football.
Joan is survived by her sister, Joyce Brozik (Jasman); nieces Patty Helphenstine (Brozik) and husband Chris and Valerie Rutherford (Brozik) and husband Tim; grandnieces Sydney, Corinne, and Rylee; grandnephew Andrew and wife Madison; lifelong friend Lynn Kneeshaw and husband Tom, daughter Sheri and granddaughter Grace; many beloved cousins, extended family, and friends.
Funeral service was held at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church in Hunt Valley, MD.
