JoAnne Kaye "Jo" Swope

JoAnna Kaye “Jo” Swope, 72, of Taneytown, MD, died November 25, 2025, at BridgingLife Dove House Hospice in Westminster. Born July 2, 1953, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lorraine John Stonesifer and Adele Marie (Forney) Stonesifer. Jo was the devoted wife of Donald Lee Swope, whom she married in Las Vegas, NV on March 18, 2007.

Jo retired as a warehouse supervisor for Random House in Westminster, MD, then went on to work and retire from Elmer Wolfe Elementary school as a lunch lady. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her cat, Ziggy.

Surviving in addition to husband, Donald, is son, Darrin Hitzelberger, of Taneytown; siblings, Russell Stonesifer and wife Theada, of Ocala, FL, Carolyn Eckard and husband Gary, of Taneytown, MD, Darla Wagner and husband Vernon, of Westminster, and Jeffrey Stonesifer and wife Agata of Ocala, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jo was predeceased by siblings, Lorraine, and Theresa Stonesifer.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 2-4:00 PM, and 6-8:00 PM, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. Urn interment will be Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Mount Joy Cemetery, Mount Joy, PA.
