On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, John Wilson Fair left us to be with the Lord at the age of 71.
Surviving is his wife, Linda, who has shared 48 years with him. He liked to go camping at his place in West Virginia. He liked watching the Orioles and Ravens on TV. John had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Victoria, who was the joy of his life; they had a wonderful time together. John is also survived by his sister, Linda Harden and her partner Mark Wilkinson; brother Melvin Jr. and his wife Bonnie; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a fierce protector of animals and had two dogs at the time of his passing.
John attended Emory United Methodist Church all his life. He sang in the choir, was a U.M.Y.F co-leader and taught a children’s Sunday school class. He was a member of the Men’s group, and the softball and bowling teams. He worked for the State Highway Administration for 30 years, and before that he worked with his father at Fair Wood Products.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Melvin Fair, Sr., in-laws Dolores and Wm. Williams, Sr., and brother-in-law Wm. Williams Jr.
John’s funeral and burial will be on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1 pm at the Emory United Methodist Church, 1600 Emory Road, Upperco, Maryland 21155, with Pastor Jerry Gautcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Target Community and Educational Services, 111 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Maryland 21157, or Emory United Methodist Church, 1600 Emory Road, Upperco, Maryland 21155.
