Joseph Seton Cool

Joseph Seton Cool, 85, of Emmitsburg, MD, died December 6, 2025, at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy. Born February 26, 1940, in Gettysburg, PA, at the family home, he was the son of the late George Cool and Alice Topper Cool.
Joseph, known to many family and friends as "Seton", was the last living of 13 children and also the youngest. He is predeceased by siblings oldest to youngest, Sister Angela Cool D.C., Cletus Cool, Mildred Sponseller, Thelma Deatherage, Allen Cool, Francis Hemler, Albert Cool, Lewis Cool, Mary Alice Cool, Donald Cool, John "Dick" Cool, and Mary Louise Peters; and nephew, Ronald "Ronnie" Cool of Emmitsburg, MD, being very special to him, who passed away on September 27, 2000.
Joseph is survived by nephew, Gerard Cool and wife Christine of Emmitsburg, who was close to his heart; loved dearly by his great niece, Jennifer Cool and fiance Gary Glass of Waynesboro, PA; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Joseph was never married and never had any children, was an active member of Saint Josephs Catholic Church in Emmitsburg, Md, and worked over the years at St Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, and at Mountain Gate in Thurmont. He was a lover of nature and birds, and loved sculpting, painting, woodworking, and photography; taking many family pictures and videos, and developing them in his own dark room. He was known for his quiet nature and his love for his family.
A memorial Mass will be Friday, December 19, 2025, 10:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, Md 21727. Interment of the urn will follow the mass at New St. Joseph Cemetery, Emmitsburg.
