Joseph "Joey" P. Kreit, Sr.

Remembering Joseph "Joey" Kreit, a friend to all.

Joseph Phillip Kreit Sr., 71, of Taneytown died peacefully Monday, July 27th, 2026, at The Dove House in Westminster, MD after his long battle with MSA-P. Born April 5, 1955, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late George A. and Dorothy (Tine) Kreit. He was the devoted husband of Helen Virginia (Crapster) Kreit, to whom he was married for 53 memorable years. Joey spent most of his working years as a farmer and truck driver.

He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Taneytown. Joey was a "work hard, play hard" man who touched the hearts of everyone he met. A fun and outgoing personality who enjoyed golfing, playing games with his family, and spending time in the sunshine.

Surviving are his brother, John Kreit; children, Joseph Kreit, Jr. and wife Kristin of Hampstead, MD, Scott Kreit and wife Clara of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Katie, Nathan and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents George A. and Dorothy, and his siblings, George J. and Dennis Kreit, and Mary Bowers.

The Kreit family will receive friends and family 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. with a eulogy at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, 2026, 31, 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Taneytown.
