Juliet Sweeney

Juliet M. Sweeney Eckenrode, 75, of Emmitsburg, MD passed away at BridgingLife Dove House. Born December 10, 1949 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Joseph Eckenrode and Mary Elizabeth Eckenrode Lynch. She was the devoted wife of the late Ronald Sweeney, her husband of 45 years. She was a devoted sister to the late Anne Eckenrode.

Juliet was devoted to her community and her faith. She taught for over 30 years at the Seton Center, touching the lives of her students immeasurably. Due to her strong Catholic faith, she was truly a selfless individual. She would always sacrifice going above and beyond for those around her. In addition, she loved her family fiercely and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, as well as going to the beach and camping.

Juliet is survived by her beloved children, Cynthia Sweeney of Frederick; Kathleen Sweeney and her partner, Zach of Emmitsburg; and Jeremy Sweeney and his wife Jaki of Pittsburgh, PA; treasured grandchildren, Cathan, Madalyn, and Kaden; and cherished siblings, Bernard Joseph Eckenrode, Jr. of Trenton, NJ, Thomas Dolan Eckenrode of Trenton, NJ, and Marybeth Shuey of Gettysburg, PA.

A funeral mass in honor of Juliet will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 47 DePaul Street, Emmitsburg (21727). Interment will follow immediately at New St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
