Louis Leonard Lanier, Jr., age 75, of Taneytown, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. Born August 6, 1948, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Louis Leonard Lanier, Sr. and Alberta Parsons Lanier. He was the loving husband of Lucinda Brewer Lanier for 47 years.
Louis was a 1966 graduate of Taneytown High School. He worked at Random House as a forklift operator, retiring after 40 years. He was a charter member of the Harney Lions Club, receiving a Melvin Jones Fellow Award, and he was a member of Monocacy Lodge # 203. He played Santa Claus for over 40 years for the town and other gatherings. He enjoyed watching the Orioles play ball, and John Wayne movies.
Besides his wife Lucinda, he is survived by son, Louis Ewing Lanier of Taneytown; and nieces, nephew and cousins. “Unc” will be sorely missed.
A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with Pastor Cris Frigm officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 4th from 5 to 7 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Taneytown.
