Martin Eugene Miller

July 28, 1967 — December 4, 2025

Martin (Marty) E. Miller, 58, of Emmittsburg, MD, passed away December 4, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Gettysburg, PA, Marty lived for a time in Blue Ridge Summit, PA before moving to Emmitsburg with his grandparents Reginald and Betsy Taylor. His parents Don and Sara Miller moved the family to Shady Side, Maryland in 1970. After the separation of his parents in 1979, Marty moved with his mother back to Emmitsburg where Marty graduated from Catoctin High School in Thurmont, MD. Following his love for mechanical things, Marty attended Lincoln Tech school for diesel mechanical, logging 400+ hours over the required hands-on time for building of engines and transmissions. He then began a career in the trucking industry, moving to Georgia to be near his grandparents Kinzel and Nellie Miller. It is there he met the love of his life Carolyn. Their first date was a motorcycle ride, which was Carolyn’s first, where she wound up burning her new shoes but never looking back! Her nephew James predicted that they would one day marry. They moved to Emmittsburg and married in June 1996. In November 2005, they adopted their son Joel, who arrived from South Korea, grabbing hold of Marty’s hair and never letting go. Joel followed in his father’s footsteps and graduated from Catoctin High School.

Marty enjoyed many hobbies including motorcycle riding, guitar playing, a love for trains, cross stitching, and sewing. Marty was the handyman on-call for the community.

Marty was a man of God and strong in his faith; he cherished his family and friends. In death he managed to touch even more lives by donation of his organs through Infinite Legacy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gettysburg where he played guitar with the praise team along with other local churches.

Marty is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Joel, stepmother Pat Miller, brother Kevin (Peggy) Miller, stepbrother Jimmy Buchholz, brother-in-law Jim (Glennie) Ainsworth, sister-in-law Karen (Mac) Brown, nine nieces and nephews, and six great-nieces. He was predeceased in death by his father Don, mother Sara, and beloved stepbrother Eric. He is also survived by his best friends, Randy, Lois and Kim.

A memorial service will be held January 3, 2026, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 1015 Chambersburg Rd, Gettysburg, PA with reception to follow.
