Matthew L. Howe, Jr.

Matthew L. Howe, Jr. of Lexington Park, Maryland, passed on May 5, 2026, at the age of 67 at MedSTAR Washington Hospital. Born September 3, 1958, Matthew was the son of the late Matthew L. Howe Sr. and Ethel Marie Howe, nee Largen.

Matthew took pride in his skill as a carpenter and handyman, which was his occupation for fifty years. He enjoyed his work, as well as taking the time to work on cars. Matthew loved swimming in the pool, crabbing, fishing and boating. He also liked to try his luck with scratch-off lottery tickets, and very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Matthew is predeceased by his infant siblings, Joseph and Baby Boy Howe, both of whom passed in his youth. Matthew is survived by his children, Elizabeth Dobson and Emily Howe; his grandchildren, Jazmine, Devin, Aiden, Brianna, Caden, and Anjolena; siblings, Agnes Douglas, Mary Fuegel, Cecelia Joseph, Thomas Howe, Christopher Howe, and Daniel Howe, Sr.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, May 13th from 2-4pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD 21727. A funeral service will follow immediately after.
