“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”

-Psalm 34:18

Melvin Wayne Amoss, 74, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at Chambersburg Hospital. Born on February 4, 1952, in Fairbanks, Alaska, Wayne was the beloved son of the late Melvin Irving Amoss and Betty Lee (Ausherman) Amoss.

Wayne was a man of quiet faith who trusted in the Lord throughout his life. He believed in hard work, loyalty, and doing right by others, and his faith guided him through both life’s long roads and its hardest moments. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and resting in God’s care.

Wayne proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era. After his service, he spent more than 50 years as a long-haul truck driver, retiring in 2023. Known lovingly as the family’s “human GPS,” Wayne had an incredible sense of direction and always knew exactly where he was - and where he was headed – without ever needing a map.

A true lover of the outdoors, Wayne found peace in nature and treasured time spent camping with his family. He enjoyed the simple things in life and cherished moments shared with those he loved. Wayne will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, kind heart, and the deep love he had for his family.

Wayne is survived by his children, Christina Clabaugh and her husband Charlie of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and Lucas Amoss and his wife Rachel of Littlestown, Pennsylvania. His grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Kyle, and Wyatt; and his great grandchildren, Jason, Levi, Chloe, Clyde, and Colton. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Chiaruttini, along with one niece, and two nephews.

A funeral service in honor of Wayne will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, February 20, 2026, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E Baltimore Street, Taneytown, Maryland 21787. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until the time of the service. Burial will be private.
