Michael Paul Bennett, a well-known long-time Carroll County resident and business man, died Tuesday October 7, 2025 at Sinai Hospital. He was being treated for injuries resulting from a fall, caused by advanced ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He was 78 years old. Born in Baltimore on July 21st, 1947 to the late Paul Samuel and Martha Bennett nee Scruggs, he was the youngest of 3 children.
Mike graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and went on to work as a draftsman with the State Highway Administration. He joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and served for 2 years. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Dianne Schaeffer and they moved to Westminster to work for the family business, Schaeffer Lumber Company. He worked at the lumber company until it was sold in the mid 1990s. He made several good friends there over the years that worked in trades, sales, and DIY homeowners.
Mike is survived by his wife Dianne; son Jason and his wife Laura Bennett nee Rivera; and his granddaughters Brooke and Mackenzie Bennett. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his two older sisters Pamela and Patricia.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday October 20th, 2025 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A. (21787) from 4pm-7pm. Interment will be private.
