Nicholas French Turner, affectionately known as Nick, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairfield, Pennsylvania, on April 13, 2026, after a long illness. Born on January 23, 1948, in New York, Nick led a life marked by dedication, passion, and deep commitment to those he loved.
Nick earned his master’s degree from Monmouth University, reflecting his commitment to education and professional excellence. He devoted 36 years to a distinguished career as a Respiratory Therapist at Carroll Hospital Center, where his expertise and compassionate care touched countless lives. His colleagues and patients alike will remember him for his unwavering dedication and warmth.
A man of diverse interests and zest for life, Nick enjoyed motorcycling, hiking, swimming, traveling, and camping. These passions allowed him to connect with nature and explore the world, enriching his life with adventure and discovery.
Nick was the loving husband of Mandy Zarriello, with whom he shared 19 wonderful years of marriage. He was a cherished father to Matthew W. Turner and a devoted father-in-law to Elaine Turner. His grandchildren, Connor and Maddy Turner, brought him great joy and pride. Nick is also survived by his sisters, Karen Mackie and Roxanne Welsh, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory with affection. He will be sorely missed by his companion and sidekick, HollyBerry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Nicholas F. Turner and Antoinette C. Turner, whose legacies lived on through him.
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Nick are invited to honor his memory at a visitation to be held on April 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a small service from 6:00 p.m. Services will take place at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, Westminster Location, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157.
Nick’s life was one of profound commitment—to his family, his profession, and his many passions. He will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love by all who had the privilege to know him.
