Rev. Fr. Timothy S. Barkley

On April 6, 2026 Rev. Fr. Timothy Stewart Barkley passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 29, 1964, in Berlin, Germany, on the US Army Base and was raised in Columbia, Maryland. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, priest and lawyer. He lived his life as an offering and ministry to all he encountered. Tim and Ann, his wife of 36 years, raised 5 children; Joy, Sister Nina, Tiffany, Margaret and Joseph in Mt. Airy, Maryland. Tim’s wife and children were always a priority, even when he had other responsibilities.

Tim was a lawyer in Mount Airy, serving the local community for over 30 years. Once his children were grown but while his business was in full swing, he studied for several years to become an Orthodox Christian priest in Taneytown, Maryland. He is surely irreplaceable for his wholehearted service to his community and parish.

Tim was the eldest son and excelled in service to his parents, David & Dorothy. Tim led the way and forged the path for 3 younger siblings, Ellen, David, and Beth, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His wisdom, strength and kindness will be forever remembered and sorely missed.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Hunt Valley, 909 Shawan Rd., Cockeysville, MD 21030 on Tuesday April 14, 2026 from 5pm- 7pm. A Divine Liturgy will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 10am followed by the Funeral Service. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. James Orthodox Church’s building fund.
