Richard “Dicky” Cool Jr. was born to parents Richard Sr. and Phyllis (Ott) Cool on March 7, 1978. He was “big brother” to his baby sister, Shannon Cool. Dicky departed this world on Father’s Day, June 20, 2021. He will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren as their loving Dad and Pappy: Sons, Jonathan Cool, with fiancée Mary Alice, and Blake Cool; Daughters, Morgan, Alexis, and Faith Cool; Grandchildren, Jaxson, and Pappy’s Princess, Addyson Cool (Jonathan).
In addition to his immediate family, he will be remembered by his extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins, and many friends. He will also be remembered by the mothers of his children, Chasity Ramsburg (Jonathan) and Brandi Houck (Morgan, Alexis, Faith, and Blake), his beloved niece Tia, with husband Tyler Cope, as well as her parents Marcy and Bud Miller, great nieces and nephew Bailey, Bristol, and Braxton Cope. Dicky was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bernard and Bertha Cool, and his maternal grandparents, Jack and Doris Ott, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family was everything to Dicky. His children were the lights of his life. Dicky enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing sports, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Yankees fan who enjoyed watching his team trounce the Orioles – his sister Shannon’s favorite team. To spend a day outdoors with his family, having a few BudLights, playing a few games, such as wiffle ball, was a perfect family day for Dicky. He enjoyed a good game of poker. He shared his love and expertise of hunting and fishing with his children, including his daughters, taking great pride in their achievements and enjoyment of the sports. He glowed when they took their first deer.
Dicky tried to disguise his heart of gold behind a gruff exterior, always willing to help someone who needed him whether it be his last dime or the shirt off his back, he always was there for his family and friends. He never met a stranger. Dicky had a quirky grin that lit up any room he walked into, a quick mind that remembered more than most, a wonderful sense of humor… his beautiful dark eyes were the windows to his soul, dancing with mirth and mischief when he was up to something from babyhood through adulthood. Dicky leaves a legacy of helping others, loving family and friends, enjoying our wonderful natural woods and streams, kindness, gentleness, and sweet humor. His light burns on in his children and their children, never to be forgotten.
