Robert Marvin "Bob" Taylor, Jr.

Robert Marvin “Bob” Taylor, Jr., 70, of Eldersburg passed away peacefully, after his courageous battle against cancer, surrounded by his loving family, Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Dove House in Westminster. Bob was born Saturday, June 4, 1955 in Baltimore, and he was the son of the late Robert Marvin Taylor, Sr. and Ellen Marie Taylor, nee McGee. He was the cherished husband of Melanie Ann Taylor, nee Garrity, his wife of 51 years; devoted dad of Jennifer Marie Ballard and her caring husband Brock; loving brother of David Taylor and his wife Lois, Ellen Michno and her husband Buddy, Clifford Taylor, Margaret Taylor, Theresa Taylor, and Deborah Perry. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, William “Bill” and Ellen Smith; his brothers-in-law Edward Perry and Allen Smith; and sister-in-law Jeanine Garrity.

Bob was a man with a zest for life and from his earliest years he was on the move, first as a 1973 graduate of Mervo, Merganthaler Vocational-Technical High School, and then as a 1986 graduate of UMBC after transferring there from CCBC. Bob worked for 38 years with AAI Corporation finishing his career as the Manager of the Printing Production Department. He was a wonderful family man and with his love, Melanie, they traveled to many places, and he most loved any place with a beach and palm trees. The two of them would travel on many vacations with family and friends, especially with their daughter and son-in-law, Jen and Brock, his brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Lois, and dear friends Wayne and Mary. When Bob was not traveling and spending time with family, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sportsman. He enjoyed target shooting and was a member of the NRA and a past member of the Marriottsville Gun Club. He had many hobbies when he was at home from working in his gardens to refurbing furniture and woodworking. In addition, he enjoyed working on and driving his red 1998 Chevy Corvette. Bob had a love of music, especially Jimmy Buffet, but whenever the song “Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band was played, no matter where Bob and Melanie were, they would find their way together and start dancing. Bob was truly the richest man in love for his family and friends. If you were lucky enough to know Bob, then you knew a man who was always a friend.

The family will receive family and friends for a memorial gathering to celebrate Bob’s excellent life from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster (21157) with a Celebration of Life memorial service to begin at 5 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Crocker officiating.
