Sandra Lee Wormley, 77, of Emmitsburg, died on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD. Born March 29, 1944, in Emmitsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Guy and Roselea (Manning) Wetzel, and the loving wife of James Wormley. They were married on June 4, 1960.
Sandy worked at Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown, MD for many years until it closed. She then went to work for the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, retiring in 2009.
Sandy’s life enjoyment was playing bingo, going to casinos, camping, and most of all, spending time with her family, and being at the cabin in West Virginia.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are daughters, Debra Ridenour (Rodney), Roxanne Andrew (Doug), and Tammy Hewitt (Harry), all of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Justin Ridenour (Breton), Hope Long (Eric), Jessica Andrew Stup, Casey Wolfe (Gary), Harry Hewitt, Jr., and Eric Hewitt (Christina); great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kai, Alaina, & Wyatt Ridenour, Hunter & Tucker Long, Gage Stup, Natalee Wolfe, Haven Andrew, Harry James III, Holden, Addison & Chase Hewitt; and sister, Ellen Marie Staub.
Sandy is preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Mae Wetzel, Agnes Louise Glass and infant twin sisters; and brothers, William Ray and Howard Leroy Wetzel.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main Street Emmitsburg, MD. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 9th at the funeral home. Burial will be private for family, and will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery near Emmitsburg, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sandy’s name may be made to the Emmitsburg Ambulance Company.
